Every day we are being bombarded by things that create stresses. What to do about managing stress or eliminating it? Here are a few simple steps to take.
1 Try to pinpoint areas of stress and face them head on. If it helps, journal about things bothering you to get clarity of what might be an area of stress. Then find a way to fix it. Is it stressful where you live? Try to find a solution to make it livable or move to a better location. As you take action on each area of pain in your life you will feel less stressed.
2. Time out. Find a quiet place to sit and be still for 20-90 minutes a day. Sitting in silence helps you become more aware of your situation and more in tune with yourself by seeking wisdom from within. This helps you gain clarity and become tighter aligned with yourself. Quieting your soul also quiets stress areas or gives you resolve and answers on how to handle stress points.
3.Diet. There are foods which make you fall out if alignment and create angst in your being like caffeine and sugars. If your body is fighting off what is bad for you, this will create stress in your being and a tax on your system. Eating foods like leafy greens will help you feel more alive and your body will be able to be at peace as it is properly nourished.
4. Create. Engage in the creative process. Whether it is a specific hobby or something that you enjoy doing as part of your work or lifestyle. Being in a state of flow and building, eliminates stress. Staying in the moment takes your mind off of the past haunts or worries for the future.
5. Relationships. Stress can come from people in your life. A toxic relationship can be a drain on your immune system because stress effects our body's capacity to fully function. Do you have stressful relatives or friends? Try to limit your exposure to them. If you must deal with them, schedule it, try to limit their impact on your life. Set strong boundaries with them. Hold loosely your expectations of them.
6. Water. Drink more H2O. It helps flush out impurities that create stress in your system. Be near bodies of water. Water is soothing and calms. It has components that when used in the right setting produces an atmosphere of peace.
7. Excersize. Yes, this one is important. We carry in our bodies until we dispel it. We need a change of state from time to time to convert our mental stress into physical stress. Exercise elevates our moods and engages that feel good feeling produced by endorphins. Staying active can help us out of a funk. It provides a space to think and come up with solutions to stress. When you exercise you activate your body and it flows the blood faster to the brain. This helps with our being able to think clearer. Overall exercise relieves the stress tension build up in the body,
8. Being in the present. Staying in the moment can be a challenge in a world full of noise, chaos, and demands. Multi-tasking and engaging your mind in too many directions at once will tax your brain and cause anxiety. Thinking too futuristically or dwelling on failures in the past are not beneficial to you in the long run. To fully engage in the present, put away your phones and things that distract.
